Eastgate Bondi Junction is replacing the escalators as they are 40 years old and at the end of their useful lifecycle.  We apologise for the inconvenience caused during the project, as we provide a necessary upgrade. It is vital for a multi-level shopping centre such as Eastgate, to have reliable vertical transport, and this will ensure that this is the case for decades to follow.

The new escalators will offer reliability and a better customer experience whilst delivering more energy efficiency.

Shoppers will always have access to the upper and lower levels during the works, with signage installed to direct you to the nearest alternative access either via the car park pedestrian ramps, the passenger lift, or alternate escalators.

We appreciate your understanding and patience throughout these works.

Remove and replace the escalators at the KFC entrance (October to December 2023)

January 2024 - COMPLETED

Remove and replace the escalator coming ‘down’ from the Mezzanine level to the Coles level (January to March 2024)

March 2024

Remove and replace the escalator coming ‘up’ from Spring Street level to ALDI level (March to May 2024)

June 2024

Remove and replace the escalators near Kmart (June to August 2024)
